Before jumping into our design project, our team established a team charter which acted as an agreement between us of our commitment to the project. Our team charter identified our personnel & stakeholders, roles & responsibilities, mission & vision objectives , along with our internal checks throughout the project. Our team remained committed to this charter and we shared many of the responsibilities to make the best project we could.

Project Schedule

In order to keep our commitment to the project on a manageable and appropriate timetable, we developed a project schedule which outlines our team meetings, our task progressions, as well as all of the deadlines we needed to meet. We generally remained committed to this schedule but made adjustments as needed.

Concept Generation

To begin the process of concept generation for our design, each of us studied identified sensors for potential use in a wearable device, and developed four concept sketches along with a flow chart to explain how they function and why the information they provide the user is meaningful.

Concept Evaluation and Selection

As a team, we performed a concept evaulation and selection where we gathered everyones four product ideas and ranked them based on the criteria we brainstormed from milestone one. We made a decision matrix to rank our ideas and decided to narrow our idea to something along the lines of Danel's smartcane

Preliminary Design Analysis

As a team, we participated in a preliminary design analysis where we developed a LOW FIDELITY physical prototype to demonstrate form of our device. We gave a mini pitch to faculty members who then provided us with insightful information on what to further research and what we may want to refrain from doing. We also developed a preliminary python program to demonstrate the functionality of our prototype.
